Materials & technology
Vanguard is one of the few manufacturers in the world that allows customers to choose the material of their tubes. The company offers a choice of three fabrics on the market to meet user requirements: PVC, CSM (Neoprene–Hypalon) and PU. Vanguard Marine holds a stock of all these materials and can provide independent advice on the best material for specific activities. We recommend PVC for sports applications on account of the excellent quality to price ratio. For professional applications, we recommend polyurethane and CSM. Finally, for heavy-duty applications we recommend high-tech, high-performance polyurethane.
All the materials used (PVC, CSM Neoprene–Hypalon and PU Polyurethane) have the same build structure. A textile base guarantees the mechanical strength properties to protect against tear and impacts. There are then two coatings (internal and external) that seal the tubes and protect against atmospheric agents and abrasion, in line with the properties of each fabric. PVC and Polyurethane PU boats are manufactured using mechanical and robotic systems, together with Thermosealing® technology, an industrial system that ensures consistent quality and is extremely cost effective. The Neoprene–Hypalon manufacture process uses the traditional manual cold gluing method.
TThermosealing® is the industrial process for assembling the different parts of the tube using a simultaneous double seal process rolled at high pressure, with double band inner/outer joins that make seams stronger than the materials used. The width of the seals used in this process is 40 mm, 25% wider than other manufacturers.
